Open Positions Elected (2 year term for officers, 1 year for Board, must have been in a league in '18-'19) Note that many of these responsibilities are also connected to volunteer positions. Officers delegate work to volunteers on these tasks, but hold ultimate responsibility that those tasks get completed. President Responsibilities Preside over all club meetings and act as Chairperson of the Board of Directors sessions; Present an Annual Report to the members at the Annual Meeting; Create ad hoc committees and appoint committee chairpersons as deemed necessary or desirable; Serve as primary spokesperson to media/community professional groups; Ensure that the Club’s business is run appropriately; Have the power to co-sign, as secondary signatory, checks or drafts of the organization; Have authority to sign, execute and acknowledge in behalf of the Club all deeds, mortgages, bonds, notes, contracts, leases, reports, applications, and other documents necessary or proper in accordance with the authority granted by the Board of Directors. Have authority to appoint representatives to the Grand National Curling Club, the United States Women’s Curling Association, and any other similar organization to which the Club may become a member. Perform other duties as may be reasonably construed as belonging to the chief executive of an organization. Vice-President Responsibilities: Assist the President in establishing and implementing a strategic plan for the Club; Assume the duties of the President in the President’s absence or disability, if and when called upon by the President. Have the power to co-sign, as secondary signatory, checks or drafts of the organization; Serve as Parliamentarian with the knowledge of the BLCC constitution and By-Laws. Secretary Responsibilities: Keep and maintain full and accurate minutes and records of the organization in appropriate books; Update amendments to the By-Laws within thirty (30) days of any approved change or modification to the By-Laws; Maintain a current copy of the BLCC By-Laws; Keep a database of the street addresses and email addresses of the members of the Club and a database of email addresses of those who have attended Try Curling or otherwise expressed an interest in joining the Cub; Appoint one or more Assistant Social Secretaries, who shall report to the Secretary on at least a monthly basis, to maintain the Club’s website, social media accounts and the weekly email newsletter; Ensure that all Notices are given in accordance with the By-Laws and as otherwise required; Perform all correspondence duties on behalf of the Club but for the correspondence duties expressly assigned to the Assistant Social Secretary with respect to the weekly email newsletter; Have the power to co-sign, as secondary signatory, checks or drafts of the organization; Perform other duties incident to the office of Secretary. Treasurer Responsibilities Keep and maintain accurate financial records of all business transactions of the organization; Have the care and custody of all monies belonging to the organization and be solely responsible for such monies or securities of the organization; Will be one of two officers that sign checks or drafts of the organization with the Treasurer designated as the primary signatory; Present a written account of the organization’s finances at board meetings, the annual meeting, and other times when directed by the President; Prepare a projected budget for the upcoming fiscal year; Establish and monitor the organization’s compliance with its tax exempt status; Prepare and present an annual financial statement affirmed by an independent certified public accountant selected by the board of directors at the Annual Meeting; Appoint an Assistant Treasurer to assist with the collection of fees and make deposits into the Club account; Perform other duties incident to the office of Treasurer. Compensated Opportunities Wednesday/Sunday Coordinator This position is open to a person in a league for the full season (Nov-Mar) and can commit to coming to every night at least a half an hour before the scheduled start time. In exchange, we will waive your league fees. In other words, do this and curl for free. Responsibilities: Arrive early all league nights to assist with setup. Schedule all volunteer setup and takedown assistants for their league nights. Monitor condition of equipment and ice, reports to President. Make sure enough materials for Try Curling participants (i.e. License to Curl) are available, request more from Art Coordinator when needed. Sell pins and other items in the red bin as needed.Makes in-person announcements as needed. Know who is playing on what sheet. Document scoring disputes for commissioner.
